COUNCIL TAX FOR MEDLAR-WITH-WESHAM 2026/27
23rd of March, 2026
Dear Resident
Please do not be alarmed by the percentage increase on your council tax invoice for Medlar with Wesham Council for 2026/27
The annual council tax increase has gone up by the minimum for the last few years and there was no increase from Medlar with Wesham Council in financial year 2024/25 and this has left a deficit going forward to cover the costs of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with contractors i.e. Open Spaces which includes mowing of grass on Fleetwood Road playing fields, cutting hedges, purchasing plants and trees, planting tubs and hanging baskets and general maintenance of all open areas (including the roundabouts) as well as a maintenance contract (SLA) with Fylde Borough Council for all play equipment on both parks and general up keep of the town. We also now have a full time Town Clerk.
As you will be aware the costs are increasing considerably and operational costs are ever-increasing. For example, we have had to replace solar lights on Doorstep Green and purchase more substantial benches for the area amongst other items this year. Wesham Council has to pay for all of this.
We hope for subsequent years to keep the % increase to a minimum as we catch up this year.
